Hello friends of IVBCF,
As some of you may know, our Catalyst series this quarter called Spiritual Delight: Finding Joy in Jesus’ Invitation to Simple Living will take our fellowship through various topics—simplicity, sabbath, communal living, fasting, & generosity—that each have practical applications for our fellowship to start engaging with the disciplines and lifestyle Jesus calls us to. One of them is what we call the #21DayChallenge, in which those who have committed to the challenge will only wear 21 articles of clothing for the next 21 days. This challenge is just a step towards us learning to let go of material possessions and set our identities in who God is, rather than let what we own define who we are. As written in Matthew 6: 19-21:
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
With that being said, let’s take a look at how our fellowship interacted with the #21DayChallenge in its first week!
WEEK 1 RECAP
Here are just some of the 21 articles of clothing people have picked out to wear for the next 3 weeks!
And here’s what happened Day 1 of the challenge
In the event that you need a specific article of clothing but did not include it in your list of 21 items, you could ask your community for help!
How we’re feeling so far:
Looking forward to seeing what the next 2 weeks have in store for us!
